Being a gamer is not a privilege, it’s a right. Whether you play on PC, Mobile, Console, real gamers don’t care.
Dr. Disrespect, one of the most famous game streamer in the world, tweeted that “Mobile gamers aren’t real gamers” (https://twitter.com/drdisrespect/status/1137889718312493056?lang=en). This sparked a huge uproar online specially in the gaming community. What does it take to be called a “gamer”? Does platform matter?
“Gamer” according to wikipedia “gamer is a person who plays interactive games, especially video games, tabletop role-playing games, and skill-based card games, and who plays for usually long periods of time. Some gamers are competitive, meaning that they compete in some games for money”.

I started playing video games since I was 5 and the first game I ever played was Tetris on a “brick game”
I then had a family computer where I played tons of video games. Super Mario, Adventure Island, Ninja Gaiden, Duck hunt, Top Gun and a lot more. Then, played StarCraft in PC, Pokemon Yellow in Gameboy color, Virtual fighter in Sega Saturn, Crash Bandicoot/Final Fantasy VIII/Breathe of Fire in PS1, got addicted in Magic the Gathering so on so forth. Right now, I am playing mostly in my Desktop and mobile phone. I sold my PS4 and Nintendo switch to save money for a Ps5. I spent a lot of money and time because of video games but never earned money out of it like today.
Myself got hooked in playing video games because it is my way to escape reality. You see, I am just an average guy, with average looks, with an average life. Playing video games specially allowed me to become more than average. Back then, people often look down upon people playing video games as nerds and they see playing video games as unhealthy.
Gamers were a minority back then and yes there were already toxic people and trash talkers like in every competitive scene. To say that one game is better because of less toxic people is big lie. There will always be a toxic, trash talker in every community be it online or not.
Real gamers are playing for fun and friendship which turns into amazing memories. Pro video game players play for recognition.
It is not about your age, what you do for living, your current status in life or not even on how good you play the game not what everybody tells you. Real gamers don’t care. It is about you having fun.
Probably the people who say that you are not a real gamer are just looking for attention, views on their channel that is why they are sparking hate. But still I want to let the whole world know, it does not matter where and what platform you play, no matter how simple the game mechanics are, when you play and you had fun, you’re a damn Gamer.
