Shuntaro Furukawa the president of Nintendo said “Please note that we have no plans to launch a new Nintendo Switch model during 2020 ” during a financial briefing of the company.

The company believes that they have not yet fully communicated the special features of Nintendo Switch and Switch lite. According to Furukawa, the decision to not release a new Switch model is for them to further grow the current player base of both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch lite. Nintendo revealed that the Switch has sold more than 50 million units to date.

This news might disappoint some who were expecting to see a “Pro” version of the handheld console. Nintendo released a V2 version of the Switch last 2019 improving only the battery life and another one called Switch Lite which does not having the docking ability of the regular Switch. If you are planning to get a Nintendo Switch, now might be the best time to do it.
