First in our list of Top 3 Open World RPGs is Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt, a 2015 Action Role Playing Game developed and published by CD Projekt Red. The game is based on The Witcher series of fantasy novel by Andrzej Sapkowski which is also the inspiration for the Witcher Netflix series.
Players will take control of Geralt of Rivia a renowned Witcher in the fantasy world called Continent. The story revolves around Geralt finding his adopted daughter while trying to stop a catastrophe called the White Frost. In between quests you can hunt monsters, drive evil spirits or you can collect materials that you can use to craft powerful weapons and equipment. The side quests are carefully designed that it adds life and makes the game more immersive. The 70 hours of gameplay is only for one specific character build. You can literally spend hundreds of hours on this game if you want to try out the different Character builds to finish the game.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Second on our list of Top 3 Open World RPGs is Red Dead Redemption 2, a 2018 action adventure game developed and published by Rockstar games. This game is the third in the Red Dead series but the first to be released in PC, as the predecessors were console exclusives. Set in 1899, players will follow the story of the outlaw Arthur Morgan and a member of Van der Linde gang set on a fictionalized Western and Southern United States. The main story quests will take around 50 hours to finish. There are also tons of things to do in the game like hunting, fishing, crafting gears, making money, completing bounty missions, solving crimes and mysteries. After the main story, you can opt to play Red Dead Online where you can choose several roles like Trader, Collector, Bounty Hunter, Moonshine Trader and complete with other players online.
Shadow of War
The last but not the least on our list is Shadow of War, an action role playing game developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. It is a sequel to Shadow of Mordor in which both games are based on J.R.R Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Players will take control of Talion, a ranger who rose back from the dead with the help of elf lord Celebrimbror. The game features fluid combat and amazing ‘parkour’ like movements. It also features the famous “Nemesis System” orcs will develop their own strength and weakness, sometimes from how you have previously battled them. Each time an Orc kills you, it’s rank among the orcs will increase along with their strengths and abilities. The game has around 25 hours of Main Quests including the expansions Blade of Galadriel and The Desolation of Mordor. Once you have finished the story, you can go online and build your own orc army to battle other players.
